Not Forsaken

Chaos is the word that comes to mind, especially when I turn on the news or get a breaking news alert on my phone.

What’s going on in our world?

I live Colorado, one of the most beautiful places I get to call home.

Recently we have had shootings accruing nearly every week.

The Denver Post sited that El Paso County could become the deadliest year in its history, what a scary thought.

Innocent lives are taken daily across our states and around our world.

I can feel my anxieties rise as I listen to the reporter give an account of the latest shooting in Sutherland Springs Texas.

Lord, help us I cried as the news faded into the background.

I grabbed my bible and turned to Psalm 37.

What great comfort God’s word gave to me.

if you get a chance to read it I’m sure you will be encouraged as well.

Verse 1 begins, ” Don’t worry about the wicked for they will soon fade away.

The following truths tell us to Trust and delight in the Lord and to commit our ways to Him.

It reminds us to be still in the presence of the Lord and wait for Him to act.

Verse 23, ” The Lord directs the steps of the godly he delights in the details of their lives”.

Even when we don’t understand, we can choose to trust his plan for every step we take, he knows the details.

Put your hope in the Lord I highlighted in verse 34 and toward the end, God’s promise sends comfort to my heart.

The Lord rescues the godly: He is their fortress in times of trouble. The Lord helps them, rescuing them from the wicked. He saves them and they find shelter in Him.

There are so many people grieving and hurting the loss of loved ones right now.

God is saying to us all, He is our refuge and strength and we are not forsaken no matter what we hear, see or feel.

Hebrews 13:8 reminds us, ” Jesus Christ is the same yesterday today and forever.”

The world is changing and people are unpredictable.

But God can be counted on even though we may not understand why horrible things happen. God is in control and we are not abandoned.

praying for you to find God’s peace and comfort no matter what your current circumstances are.

Father God, I know nothing happens in our lives without you being in full control. Would you help us shine your truth in this world that is lost? Lord, would you keep us safe and help us to keep our eyes on you no matter what. Father, I believe your return is very near, would you make us ready to meet you and help us to reach those that don’t know you before it’s too late, In Jesus Name I pray, Amen.

Praying for you today, Jamie
