She took my hand as we quietly ran down the short hall, she giggled as we entered the closet, crouching down to hide as best we could between the clothes that were hanging.
She placed her hand over her lips, all I could see were her big green eyes.
To be found was the best part of the game.
His voice sounded scary as he announced he was near.
She looked at me and began to whisper ” He’s coming to get us, Nonna.”
I put my finger to my lips to signal we must stay quiet, within seconds she burst out with a loud voice ” I’m here,” her little feet running out so that Eli would find her.
Laughter filled the room as I leaped out swooping them both up in my arms and gently throwing them on my bed, I proceeded to kiss their sweet faces and tickle them till they could take no more.
” Let’s do it again,” Zoey shouted.
Oh, to be found is like sweet surrender.
There have been times in my life I found myself playing hide-and-seek with God.
I love to seek the truth through his word; it sets me free.
But sadly there are moments when I feel the need to hide from Him, and usually, it’s when there is sin in my life.
Bitterness, a hard heart, anger, disobedience just to name a few.
I make excuses why I have no time to read my Bible or to pray.
The truth is I want to be known, but I didn’t always want that.
As a child, I lived in a world full of secrets. No matter what kind of abuse was going on in my life, I would never tell a soul in fear of the consequences.
I grew up afraid of everything, especially someone finding out the truth about me.
I believed if I could hide the truth then everyone would like me.
But God, in his love for me, came to find me.
Luke 15:3-7 Tells us about the shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine sheep to find the one lost, and when he finds it he joyfully puts that sheep on his shoulder and takes it back home.
It goes on to say; There is more rejoicing in heaven when one sinner who repents, than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not repent.”(NIV)
God knows where you are, how you feel, and he knows your thoughts.
To be found by him is the best thing that could have ever happened to me.
He called me out of my pain and dispaired.
He took my secret life and began to illuminate his truth.
You might allow the enemy to convince you that hiding your true self is the best way to live but the truth is when we seek after God he will be found.
Jeremiah 29:13 ” You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
Do you ever feel lost?
Are you hiding out hoping no one will find out things about you?
God created you to be known and to live in freedom.
If you find yourself hiding in the closet and you hear the voice of God calling out to you, be like a child and let him find you. He wants to pick you up and hold you in his arms. He longs to pour out his love on you and have a relationship with you no matter what your past holds.
He loves you and has an incredible plan for your life.
Let him come for you.
Praying for you today,
