Her wounds were deep, her sadness, even deeper.
She often wondered if maybe someday the ache in her heart would stop.
Her loneliness was often felt even in a room filled with friends and family.
Day after day she had a choice to make and it did not come easy.
The familiar thing was to repeat the negative thoughts over and over in her head and stay in that place of sadness and pain.
It was all she had known, in some sort of way it was the easy thing to do.
Do you blame her?
The choice to heal and be well was foreign to her, yet her heart urged her to choose life.
How does one choose life when all they’ve known feels more like death?
She woke up every morning and prayed the Healer would come.
She found herself turning the pages of the bible in search of truth and peace.
The word of God began to pierce through her heart.
As though she had been living in darkness and someone turned on the light.
She found comfort there, for God himself began to open her wounds and with his touch heal her.
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18
He must have been speaking directly to her.
Crushed in spirit was who she was.
Her pain was a consistent reminder of all the chaos she had been through.
The hope that hung upon her heart was that her life, no matter how painful, was not over yet.
Every day was a new beginning.
But she needed to make the decision to be different and that was impossible without Christ.
On her knees, she lifted up her eyes and began to ask God to show her the way.
John 14:13 spoke loudly, ” Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the father may be glorified in the son.”
The days and nights passed quickly, she was changing.
She greeted the morning with joy as she spoke this truth over her heart. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
The sign she had been carrying around her whole life told the world who she was. Worthless, rejected, abused, unloved, hated, and good for nothing.
But no longer. she was now covered in truth, unconditional love, and endless grace.
God brought her out from among the ruins.
His banner flies over her today and it says, she is beautiful, worth dying for and most of all, she is loved.
Never give up or lose hope no matter what you’ve been through.
There is a healer and His name is Jesus.
Will you take hold of him today and allow him to bring you from your darkness into His light.
Praying for you,
