I woke up before the sun, my intention, to see it rise.
The dog followed like a loyal companion as we made our way to the ocean’s door.
The stretch of sand held no footprints as the ebb and flow of the tide washed the white sandy beach, making it pristine and inviting.
In the distance the silhouette of a man fishing captured my attention. He too must want something, to be awake this early.
As I walked along the shore the dark sky began to turn orange, I could hear the seagulls afar.
The word “Intentional” crossed my mind, to do something on purpose or deliberate.
I woke up on purpose because I wanted to embrace the morning and watch the sun peek over the sea. I was intentional and therefore I succeeded.
One of the things I have learned to be deliberate about is spending time in God’s word.
I’ve realized in the past few years that reading the bible is more than just scanning the black words printed in the ancient book.
It begins with asking the Holy Spirit to bring his words to life.
It takes time, to ponder and contemplate, to reflect and mull over, to meditate and let his words become your truths.
It amazes me how words spoken over thousands of years ago, still breathe life and meaning today?
We are a people created to worship The One True God.
We are made to bring him glory.
Ephesians 1:14 tells us “The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.”
God had intentions toward you and I.
With everything that’s going on in our day-to-day lives, the pull of the world seems stronger than ever.
I know it’s easy to read the bible as though you’re checking the box on the list of things to do today.
But can I encourage you to be intentional about God’s word.
It is where you will find revelation and divine interpretation for the decisions you need to make in your life today.
It is where you will gain wisdom for the next step of your journey.
It is the place where you can find forgiveness when your heart has none to give.
His words will be a lamp that lights the way when there seems to be no way.
It’s pretty amazing to see just what happens when we are intentional.
What are you intentional about today?
Make your life count and live with purpose.
Praying for you,
