I often wonder if I am capable of really understanding who I am and what I’m here for?
Do you ever wonder about that?
Sometimes when we look on the surface of life, we believe we understand why we are here.
We give ourselves titles to wear as though it sums up who we are.
Wife, mother, daughter, friend.
CEO, business owner, manager, teacher, the list goes on.
Some titles sound better than others and some titles shame the ones who wear them.
What about past titles?
Have you ever been address as the-EX?
As though someone canceled you out because you didn’t make the cut.
As a young girl growing up in an abusive home I was called all kinds of names. Those names engraved scars on my heart.
The enemy attempts to press on those scars, hoping to awaken that fearful little girl.
I struggle to tell myself the truth and remind myself that I am not that girl and I am created for something great.
When we do not have our identity in Christ, we will be tempted to place a name tag over our heart and be whatever anyone wants us to be.
We take on the title of “People pleasing” and we slowly die.
My heart yearns to be known and to understand my purpose here on the earth.
I cherish deep friendships that don’t see my title but see my heart.
I want to wear the true name of whose I really am.
The enemy has a name for us all and he is relentless in his endeavor to make sure we believe it!
“Worthless, Stupid, Annoying, Fat, Ugly, Lazy, Addict, Failure, loser.”
He hates with an everlasting hatred and insists on causing all of humanity to accept the titles he has given them and live in bondage to that name.
I love seeing those two words next to each other. Because no matter what I’ve gone through, no matter where I’ve been or what I have been called.
Those are the words of hope.
The bible says, “If anyone is in Christ , he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold the new has come.” 1 Corinthians 5:17
So it doesn’t matter the names others have put on you. In Christ you are made new.
“For we are his workmanship, Created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10
You were created to do something good. You have a purpose given by God for your life. So don’t waste your life listening to the voice of the enemy telling you who you are.
1 John 4:4 tells us, Greater is He that lives in you than he that is in the world.
When you accept God into your life, victory is yours my friend .
“Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.” Ephesians 1:4
It doesn’t matter what your title is, where you live or how much you make.
You are made in the image of Jesus Christ.
There is no name greater than His.
The banner that reigns over you says that you are a child of the most high God and His mercy is made new for you everyday.
You are forgiven and set free. No longer living under the disappointment of man, but living in victory because of who you belong to.
I encourage you to take off all the name tags that were put on you by others or yourself and allow God to write his name upon your heart.
Praying for you today,
