Do you need rescuing today?
Are you sitting in a land of dry bones, wishing for there to be life again?
Ezekiel 37: 1-14 reads the amazing story of Ezekiel’s vision of dry bones.
The nation of Israel had lost everything.
There it is again but God, when all hope seems gone, God is near and their God wanted to heal them and bring restoration to their lives as a nation.
I love this story.
Being a massage therapist, the body has always fascinated me. The bones, tendons, ligaments, nerves, and muscles all have to come together.
Can you imagine watching that miracle take place.
Ezekiel’s job was to speak to the dry bones, (basically a lot of broken skeletons lying on the ground) he was to tell the bones that God would make breath come into them and they would come alive.
I love the question God asks Ezekiel.
verse 3; “Son of man, can these bones become living people again?”
His reply; “O Sovereign Lord, you alone know the answer to that.”
Have there been times in your life when God posed a question to you concerning your difficult circumstance.
“Can your dead marriage come to life again?”
“Can your rebellious teen come back home?”
“Can the lost relationship be restored?”
“Can your broken heart be mended?”
“Can you trust me to make all things new in your life?”
What is your reply?
If you answer from your situation it may sound something like this,
“This is too broken.”
“I’m too tired.”
“I can’t do this any more.”
“It’s too late.”
But when the answer comes from a heart that trusts God, it may sound a little more like Ezekiel’s reply “O Sovereign Lord, only you know the answer to that.”
God has the answer for what ever you are facing.
God wants to breathe life into your circumstances today.
Verse 7 tells us that Ezekiel does what he is told, he hears a rattling noise all across the valley. The bones from each body come together and attached themselves as skeletons. He watched the muscles and flesh form over the bones and then skin was formed to cover their bodies.
How awesome is that.
As if that wasn’t enough of a miracle, God breathes life into those once dead bones. The bible says
“They stood up like a great army.”
The dead shattered bones were now human beings breathing again.
I’m amazed just reading this.
God heard the cries of Israel and he was saying to them.
I hear you and I am going to come for you, “So that you will know I am the lord your God.”
There is nothing too hard for God.
Your circumstances don’t scare him.
He is not surprised by what you are facing.
God knows the beginning and end of your life and he wants you to trust him through the in between times.
whatever it is that you have lost, the enemy wants you to believe there is no hope.
There is more to come in this life that is full of disappointments and chaos.
But God is not asleep.
He wants to breathe life into your heart that seems dead.
Will you let him?
He wants to raise you up to be the person he created you to be.
Will you surrender?
Whatever may be happening in your life right now might feel like the biggest mountain you have ever faced.
But if the God you pray to and give praise to can part the red sea and bring dead bones to life, then he will surely come for you.
I pray God breathes his courage into you today. I pray you are filled with his power to go through all of life’s situations trusting that no matter what, his plans for you will go according to his will for your life and they are good plans. We must take our eyes off of our surroundings and fix them on the Lord.
“You will keep him in perfect peace, those whose mind is stayed on you: because he trusts in you.”
Perfect peace, doesn’t that sound so good?
Don’t stop trusting your God because the waves are too big.
Don’t stop praying because the mountain is too high.
Don’t stop believing because you didn’t get the answer you wanted.
He wants to breathe life into your character, causing the impossible to become possible and it is only through him and in him that we will make it to the other side.
Praying for you today that you allow God to bring those dead bones to life.
